Theresa Steele's comic outline

A very in-depth read on the plot for her submission, which is inspired by Celtic mythology, along with character sheets.  Check it out!

About Copyright

This was a question that was brought up recently, so just to let everyone know: when you participate in Mythology, you still retain all the copyrights to your own work.  You can show the art wherever you’d like and you can even print up copies of your own comic and sell them if you want.  We don’t own your work.  By submitting work, you are just giving us permission to print it as part of the anthology.

The submissions page is open!

If you are one of the participants in the anthology and would like to share your work, feel free to use this page and we’ll showcase it here.

Apologies and Updated Deadlines

First of all, an apology for being lax in replying to email inquiries lately.  Eileen has been sick for the past month and is now catching up on everything.  Because of this, deadlines are pushed back for the comic to give you all more time to work.

October 15th is the deadline to get in touch with us if you have been approved to contribute and are still planning to submit work.

We need the following information from you:

  • A brief summary of your comic.
  • A page count.  It’s okay if this is an estimate, but we want to start getting a rough idea of how long this anthology will be.
  • Some art. It’s alright if this is just a sketch of a character or a thumbnail for a page; we just want to see that you’re starting to put some work into your comic.

We’ve decided not to require that we see every page as a rough, because we realize that some of you work best when you do a page at a time rather than laying the entire comic out.  However, we would like to hear from you and see some art from time to time.  If we haven’t heard or seen anything in 3 weeks, we will probably be emailing you to ask how things are going.  We will be setting up a submission page for this Tumblr so that you can show everyone what you’re working on, but you can also just email it if you prefer.

The deadline for all final comic pages will be around January 1st.  This means you have a little more than 3 months to do your comic.

Hey all!  We wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who is getting involved and to all of our new followers!
This is a reminder that submissions to the anthology are closing in two weeks on August 15th, so if you want to participate and haven’t gotten in touch with us yet, please do so.

I’ll be posting some new art from some of our contributors this week so that you guys can all check out each other’s work, so keep an eye out for that!

Who is running Mythology?

Mythology is being edited by Eileen McLain, a senior year illustration major at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, USA.  You can see my artwork here if you are curious, and I am also on Tumblr as eileenpaints.  I am being assisted by Patrick Tsao, a freelance illustrator and animator whose work can be found here.  We can be reached through the Mythology Tumblr askbox at the top of this page, or via email to mythologycomic [at] gmail [dot] com.
